Thank You for an Amazing 2010! US ITUNES FEATURE, SXSW 2011
Hi all,
Since it's the second last day of the year and all we thought it would be a good time to say thank you for all your support over the year and let you know what we've got coming up.
July of this year we released our third album 'Dear Darkly' and we've been thrilled with the response to it and the singles Echo Stick Guitars, Soporific and Damn Defensive. Thank to all the people who pre-ordered a copy direct from the website, especially the first ten people who also got to request a cover song from us - things have been pretty crazy with touring but we assure you the 8 that remain to be covered are still very much on the to do list (even 'Battery').
USA ITUNES FEATURE and BEST OF LISTS
It's been nice to see Dear Darkly pop up on some end of year lists too. Notably US iTunes, who put Dear Darkly on their 2010 best of Indie list and included 'Under the Ocean on a 20 track indie spotlight compilation along with Arcade Fire, Yeasayer, Wavves, Surfer Blood, Local Natives, Beach House, Deerhunter, Two Door Cinema Club, Junip (feat. Jose Gonzalez) and fellow 'Strines, Tame Impala.
If you live in the USA you can get Dear Darkly from iTunes for only $7.99 until January 1, 2011 as part of their feature.
Or you can still get a physical copy anywhere in the world directly from our website at www.theboatpeople.com.au/deardarkly
Closer to home it was great to see DD pop up on Mess and Noise's top 50 Australian albums with Triple J Home and Hosed presenter Dom Allessio adding in his review "Dear Darkly' should be lauded for its adventurous spirit, intelligent arrangements, but most of all, for being a sublime, idiosyncratic pop record.” ". Triple J Breakfast host Alex Dyson also included it in his top 10 for the year.
TRIPLE J HOTTEST 100
If you agree with what's been said about Dear Darkly then please cast a vote for Damn Defensive in the Triple J Hottest 100 - making the list would be a great way to kick off the new year!
